Hi Mike,
Short message here to you and perhaps if anyone's interested in reading what I have to say.
I don't think I have over reacted in any way. If that was a joke, those involved should come out and clarify on their own. It's not up to Ken to make explanations on behalf of them. To keep quiet shows one thing: you think you are so high up in the air somewhere that you can't be bothered to make a reply. That's my impression. And it's rude on its own.
There are some who responded indirectly to my posts here on this forum, who seem to think I am short of a brain. There are some who think I am not worth my salt. Then there are some who think I have much to hide. Maybe. But when I posed my concerns, they skipped. When you see off list unfriendly mails to you, would you be that silly to tell them all? I wouldn't think so. I have received a few kind words too. One actually praised my posts on PhD forum, which I responded that I might be very well hated for it. Hated is a higher possibility. I don't make up these accusations. They are real. If they don't like me, they can jolly well keep quiet. Cos they have the upper hand as having a string of honours behind them. They don't have to pretend another conference and invite me for a review. I thought that was an insult. I will never forget that incident. And I noticed a pattern too.
Often, I think there two kinds of routes for the learning or research enthusiasts. One type comes from the smooth sailing type, picking up the degrees and honours as they busy write papers to publish. The other type is the kind who have to plough through it because the route has been already set rocky. So when you start talking, bricks come at you on whatever you say-- even if it's the smallest thing.
Rankings or not, I see that education is another line of commercial business. When it's treated as a business, it means a very different set of rules. And if some were to care what I used to write, they were usually come in with fun. I even get poked at for the fun. Now I get poked for being serious. Guess whatever I embarked I will get poked. Not that I mind, but it's the thought that came with it.
Perhaps someday we shall meet.
Cheers,
Karen

Because of our co-op program and an intense 5-year (year-round) curriculum (a lot of design courses plus a University gen-ed context) most of our graduates tend to go into and stay in the professions a long time. We¡¯re aware of this in part because a not insubstantial number of our co-op employers are alumni heading a firm or holding in a senior position in one. I¡¯ve taught the adult children of students I taught 30 years ago!

You can be sure, we¡¯re not taking our ¡®ranking¡¯ too seriously or looking down on the many other good schools who weren't on the list. Let's see, ins't there a design school in Delft, and one in Eindhoven, and Basel, and Wuppertal, and Berlin, and way far away in Australia, and etc..
