The aim of the proposed research is to theoretically explore the use of fast and intense laser pulses to probe/control electronic motion and non-adiabatic electron transfer processes, on timescales shorter than nuclear motion, in processes triggered by X-ray pulses in molecular systems.
This is the overall aim of the proposed research for the Postdoctoral position available in the group of Dr. Agapi Emmanouilidou, in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at University College London in the UK starting as early as January 2013. The postdoc will be trained in state of the art computational and analytical techniques for exploring physical processes in the field of laser-matter interactions. The Atomic, Molecular, Optical and Positron Physics group at UCL fosters a unique and highly challenging environment that allows exposure and benefit from interactions with scientists in different subfields of AMO science. This includes laser-matter interactions, cold atoms and molecules, and quantum information processing among others.
