In a break with usual practice, this year's SLA Europe breakfast will be
hosted by the Financial Times and sponsored by 7Side.
2013 promises to be an interesting year as the US tries to avoid its
"fiscal cliff", Europe continues to address its own challenges and the UK
resolutely maintains its own austerity programme. Meanwhile Asia grapples
with a slowdown in Western demand for its products and services. Against
this challenging backdrop, what are the prospects for the information
industry in the next 12 months?
We are very excited to bring you three speakers to give their perspectives
on these challenges whilst you enjoy a continental breakfast buffet:
Robin Bew will provide us with his insights into the global economic
prospects for 2013. Robin is Editorial Director and Chief Economist at the
EIU. He is recognised for his commentaries and interpretation of global
economic developments and is a frequent contributor on a range of radio and
television media, including the BBC, CNN, CNBC Europe and Bloomberg.
Ferdinando Giugliano will give his perspective on the European and UK
economic outlook. Ferdinando is a editorial leader writer for the FT.
Having recently been awarded his Doctorate in Economics, Ferdinando has
worked for La Repubblica in Rome and the Bank of Italy.
Iain Simpson will be speaking to potential developments in the global
information industry. Iain is a well known information futurist. He has
held a number of influential positions developing knowledge and information
management strategies for blue chip organisations in the finance,
professional services, music and voluntary sectors.
