Dear friends and colleagues,
We would like to announce a call for abstracts for session ERE3.1/TS3.6 at the European Geophysical Union General Assembly 2013 (Vienna, 7-12 April 2013).
‘Structural interpretation and evolution of mineral systems from geological, geochemical and geophysical data’
convened by Christopher Juhlin (Uppsala University) with co-conveners Klaus Gessner (Geological Survey of Western Australia) , Pär Weihed (Lulea University) , Johann Raith (Montanuniversität Leoben), and Mark Jessell (Institute de Recherche pour le Dévéloppement Toulouse)
We are currently considering to publish a special volume on this session in ‘Mineralogy and Petrology’.
To submit an abstract (DEADLINE 9 JANUARY 2012) please find our session in EGU’s Energy, Resources and Environment division:

Details on the session:
Modern mineral exploration and extraction requires use of advanced
technology and scientific methods. Mining today is to a major extent a
high-tech industry and is going deeper. Successful deeper exploration
will require more refined and accurate geological and geophysical models
of the Earth's crust. In particular, the time dimension (4D) is
important to understand. Methods need to be developed that rely on an
array of data and measurements where high quality observations are
merged to generate Earth models that can serve as a basis for new
exploration strategies. We invite contributions dealing with all aspects
of mineral belt modeling, including structural geology, rock mechanics,
petrology, geochronology, isotope geology, mineral deposit studies,
seismology, hydrology and exploration geophysics.
