School of Geography
University of Leeds, UK
Lecturer in Human Geography (Cities and Social Justice research cluster)
Closing Date 24th Jan 2013
The School of Geography is a leading international research department, one of the top-ranked in the UK. We seek to appoint an excellent human geographer whose research interests will complement the work of its Cities and Social Justice research cluster.
We are looking especially for innovative candidates with records of internationally excellent research to join our strong and dynamic group. Research in the cluster is organised around five themes and we particularly welcome applications from candidates who demonstrate an interest in these: 1. Understanding and challenging the neoliberal city (including processes of gentrification and displacement); 2. Cities, climate change, sustainability and alternative urban futures; 3. Activism, social movements and processes of urban contestation and ‘commoning’; 4. Scholar- activism and participatory action research; 5. Everyday practices, public space and consumption in the city.
You will have a PhD degree or equivalent in Geography or a relevant related area, with a track record of research expertise and internationally excellent publication in areas that complement the research activities of the Cities and Social Justice cluster. You will be expected to participate in the School’s undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes and provide academic leadership, as appropriate.
