Please note, Doug, complete excision of the perpendicular pronoun, below!
Intruder
Purposeful, fussy even,
sounds of scraping,
starting and stopping.
From without, not in here
in the middle cubicle.
Aloneness interrupted.
There it goes again;
shuffle, scratch,
knock. What?
Outside but close.
Business finished,
twirl, click, out.
Eyes dart. Skitter.
Look up.
A shadow looms,
blots the sun.
In silhouette,
dark feet adjust,
re-admit light.
Liquid swirl.
On the roof,
in a rain puddle
in the warped skylight,
a crow makes his nest.
