thanks to these recent postings,
by Anna Ramos and Mark Amerika
(the longer the better), and also to the earlier debates in this stimulating forum
(Marc Garrett's political theories and critique of digital transformations probably deserve a
lot more feedback yet to come).
Just wanted to say that I found the detailed
descriptions of the practices (Ramos/Amerika) very fruitful, and will try later to comment
on the platform switching as i think there are some very interesting challenges at hand....
(while I would also like to hear more from Reinhard about the disadvantages of
net-based presentations of art, for example in reference to hybrid works
and what Reinhard suggested at one point : 'You cannot show
originals of paintings, sculptures and installations on the net, and even
performances can at best be shown in the form of a video performance or in
virtual reality on a platform like Second Life" -) in other words I'm precisely interested
in the hybrid character of performances or installations that might and might not have
a network dimension already implied or that were perhaps conceived as augmented
reality works or that were manifested n o t to be switchable (i doubt that some dance or
performance work can be shifted to Second Life or make all that much sense on YouTube or
other Vimeo or upload sites/festivals..... but I think this has been discussed on these page before
if I'm not mistaken.....
best wishes
