Dear all,
Forgive my intrusion into your inbox but I thought you might like to know
of my research blog dedicated to the history and heritage of the copper
industries.
The focus is predominantly on copper in Britain, particularly the
industries of Cornwall, Wales and England and what remains of their
heritage in our archives, museums and sites.
The aim of my research project is to demonstrate the value of using
business archives, archaeology and museum collections together in
understanding the supply chain and interconnectedness of industrial
processes, economics and the technology and skills involved in them. I hope
that this will contribute valuable information to statistically-led
research and research of specific sites. My purpose is to insert the
history of copper into the general discussions of historical
industrialisation and metallurgy and make the information available to a
wider audience.
I am undertaking this research independently and recently secured funding
from Glamorgan County History Trust to continue work on Welsh business
archives but that have relevance to mining, smelting and manufacturing in
Cornwall, England, Ireland, Europe and elsewhere in the world.
