Dear all,
We are reaching a critical mass for the informal London Numerical Cosmology working group! If you are interested, please sign up within the next few days (see signup info below). To minimise cluttered inboxes, future emails will only be sent to those who signed up to the doodle poll (though we'll advertise here every once in a while for new arrivals).
Apologies for the spam and thanks to all who signed up already!
Best regards,
Hiranya and Eugene

Dear London Cosmologists,
At the LCDM meeting on the "future of London cosmology" we noticed that while there is a very diverse range of research interests, one theme that seemed common to every single institution was the area of numerical cosmology. This covers a huge range of research, such as numerical simulations of structure formation, simulating large cosmological surveys, innovative algorithms for the "big data" era that will be upon us soon, accurate theoretical modelling, and science exploitation of cosmological surveys (e.g. parameter estimation).
We would like to explore what can be done to enhance links between London institutions in this vital area by forming an informal working group. Some initial thoughts we had on these issues include:
(a) sharing expertise on new parallel architectures
(b) common projects -- GR, parameter constraints, algorithm development...
(c) sharing scientific programming support
(d) Perhaps we can host Numerical Cosmology 2014 in London??
Longer term aims might include collaborations with local industry (such as google) or even attracting industry support.
If you are interested in joining this working group, or else at least think you are interested enough to come to a first meeting, please sign up at the doodle poll below by 24/11/2012. Please remember to tell us your full name and how to get in touch with you (e.g. institution and/or email address).
