The Centre de recherche sur les innovations sociales (CRISES) is offering a supplementary postdoctoral
fellowship award valued at $10,000. The award aims to support research that is aligned with the Centre’s
mandate, which is to close gaps in the design, theorization, measurement and operationalization of social
innovation on the basis of three main fields of research: development and territory, living conditions, and work and
employment. The award is aimed in particular at foreign candidates having obtained their PhD degree at a
university outside of Canada.
Eligibility
To apply, candidates must:
have obtained their doctoral degree less than five years ago (as of the beginning of the fellowship),
or, if they are doctoral students, intend to officially submit their thesis at the latest on February 1, 2013;
present a subject of studies and research that is directly linked with the focus areas of CRISES;
be in contact with a regular member of CRISES who will accept to direct their work;
be available full time and be willing to participate actively in the various activities of CRISES, such as
seminars, conferences and contributions to the Cahiers de recherche; and
have working knowledge of French or English.
To receive the award, the candidate must:
have met all the requirements for her or his doctorate at the latest on May 1, 2013;
have obtained other financial support;
have obtained the status of postdoctoral fellow at the home university of the fellowship director.
Duration and terms of the award
The fellowship has a duration of 10 to 12 months and must start between September 1 and 30, 2013.
For the duration of the fellowship, CRISES will provide the researcher with an office equipped with the
necessary resources. The fellow may also benefit from the Centre’s secretarial services.
Application
Interested candidates must submit:
an up-to-date CV (maximum 4 pages);
a copy of their PhD diploma;
or, if they are doctoral students, the last transcript of their doctoral studies or any document confirming
their academic success or an interim proof of progress, as well as a letter from their thesis supervisor
confirming that the thesis will be submitted and indicating the expected date of the thesis defence;
information about support from other funding sources;
three signed letters of references, one of which must be from the thesis supervisor and one from the
member of CRISES who will direct the fellowship;
a two-page abstract of the research project;
copy of a short text (article published or a chapter of the thesis) that is related to the areas of research of
CRISES.
The application must be sent electronically at the latest on February 14, 2013 to Denis R. Bussières at

candidate.
Review of the applications
Applications will be evaluated by the executive committee of CRISES on the basis of the academic record and the
relevance of the fellowship project for the research areas and objectives of CRISES.
