You are warmly invited to the annual Stirling Lecture organised by the
School of Anthropology and Conservation, University of Kent, Canterbury.
This year's Stirling Lecture will be given by Professor Chris Hann (Max
Planck Institute for Social Anthropology, Halle), and its title is: *The
Turkish Nation-State and the Chimera of Modernity*.
The lecture will take place on Tuesday 27th November 2012, Keynes Lecture
Theatre 1 at 6.30pm. It will be followed by a buffet reception in Keynes
Atrium. The lecture is open to all, including members of the public as well
as university staff and students. It is not necessary to pre-register, or
to book in advance: just turn up on the day!
*The Stirling Lecture* is held annually in honour of Professor Paul
Stirling, founding Professor of the Department of Sociology and Social
Anthropology at the University of Kent. He is best known as the author of
