The School of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences has a
distinguished reputation for quality research and teaching programs
across the Melbourne and Bendigo campuses. Each of our five
Departments excels in their own areas of expertise, offering
accredited courses with strong industry ties. The Department of
Mathematics and Statistics is a dynamic and progressive teaching and
research department. It teaches a major in Mathematics and an
accredited major in Statistics within a number of single and double
degrees, and has an enviable record of graduate satisfaction. In
addition, the Department is a major service provider to a wide range
of single and double degrees.
The position
You will make an outstanding contribution to the research, teaching
and administrative duties of the department and to governance and
collegial life inside and outside of La Trobe University. You will
have attained recognition at a national and international level in the
discipline and make original and innovative contributions to the
advancement of scholarship, research and teaching in this discipline.
The candidate we are seeking will have:
■A PhD in statistics
■Demonstrated ability to provide excellent teaching in statistics
commensurate with the high standards expected within the program that
is accredited by the Statistics Society of Australia Inc. (SSAI).
■Evidence of high quality and/or high impact research conducted in the
field of statistics.
■Evidence of the ability to work as a member of a team in a
co-operative and collegial manner.
■Evidence of success in obtaining research funding from grants,
contracts or consultancies (Level C).
■Capacity to develop and sustain collaborative research with
scientists from the La Trobe Institute for Molecular Science.
