I used to run one of the London borough groups (with other people) - one of the bigger ones in the city.
-there was no crossover with the CTC, which we regarded as rather conservative and not really relevant to slogging it out in some of the densest traffic in the world, in West London. Hardly any of us did any 'touring'. Arriving at the office in one piece every morning was quite enough.
- while we did organise a few rides, I saw us more as campaigners, drawn together by common purpose and so did most of the core membership.
- today, ten years later, things are different and there a wide range of activities in an even larger group - weekly rides, a bike hub, but still the campaigning and strategy meetings and actions.
- not really a 'club', more of a 'group' or 'social network'.
