Marine Scotland Science is seeking applications for Statistical Consultant vacancies based in Aberdeen. Marine Scotland Science provides expert scientific and technical advice on marine and freshwater fisheries, aquaculture, the protection of the aquatic environment and its wildlife, and the uses of our seas including renewable energy.
The post-holders will be part of a small group providing statistical support to underpin the advice given by Marine Scotland Science. They will work on a diverse range of marine and freshwater projects, and will develop and apply statistical procedures and models to meet research needs. The work will be challenging, rewarding and varied, and might include studies on fish population dynamics, the interactions between wild and farmed fish and assessments of the status of the marine environment.
Candidates must have a degree or postgraduate qualification in statistics or a quantitative subject with a high statistical component. They must have experience of developing innovative statistical solutions to applied problems and experience of statistical software packages such as R or Genstat.
The appointments are permanent and pensionable. New entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range.
