This post-doctoral research position offers an exciting opportunity for the right person to make a significant contribution to the future of air pollution and climate policy through high-level engagement with national and international bodies. The position calls for a highly numerate and technically minded candidate, who is comfortable working at the interface of science and policy.
The job will involve a wide range of research and consultancy work with the internationally recognised Air Quality Management Resource Centre (www.uwe.ac.uk/aqm). The AQMRC comprises a small and friendly team of researchers under the supervision and guidance of the Centre’s Director: Professor James Longhurst. It is based at the University of the West of England in Bristol, one of the most exciting cities in the UK in terms of sustainability, and runner up in this year's European Green Capital awards.
The AQMRC is based at the Department of Geography and Environmental Management at UWE’s Frenchay Campus, but there is plenty of opportunity to develop cross-disciplinary work and research streams with other research groupings in the University. These include the Centre for Transport and Society, the WHO Collaborating Centre for Healthy Cities and other groups within the University’s the Institute for Sustainability, Health and Environment (www.uwe.ac.uk/ishe).
The successful applicant will have the ability to direct their own work and research, as well as to work in teams and successfully manage projects from bidding stages through to completion. The post will involve direct engagement with a wide variety of clients and partners, as well as involvement in undertaking a range of teaching and training activities.
