Apologies for re-posting

Posted on behalf of Phil Duffy...

No, not in a ghoulish holding mirrors in front of people's mouths, checking pulses way :) From a documentary perspective.

Any ideas- I'm trying to trace an individual who I know was alive in Ireland (Donegal) in 1972- I know because the person signed a form dated in 1972? I've tried all of the main family history databases but these don't help (most stop recording information on Ireland post 1930)- I've used the excellent (and a bit ghoulish) http://irishgraveyards.ie site and have found a grave for the individual's mother, including a picture (of the grave, not the mother! ) and was sort of hoping- wrong sentiment, I know- that there would be an extra bit tagged on to the grave and that the photo would be very recent, but (un)fortunately not. There is no verification on Checktheregister for the voting record at the last known address, but this may be because of a change of address on non registration. I could apply for a copy death certificate, but would need to know when the person died (if they have!).

Do any Irish colleagues know of any way of doing this?

In case you are curious as to why... we have a number of missing persons on our client database and are trying to make sure that every avenue has been explored to repatriate any funds we have - this one has gone from a chap living in Yorkshire who died in the 1960s through several marriages and bereavements to a living relative in Ireland... which would be perfect except that at the last hurdle, another 'maybe' living relative has come to light...so who gets the money may depend on this.

As ever, thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Phil
