Dear all,
Advanced notice of a free on day course that will take place at the University of Bristol between 10am and 6pm on December 17th. It will be an introduction to R led by Chris Brunsdon (University of Liverpool), James Cheshire (UCL) and myself focusing especially on geographical data manipulation, analysis and visualisation (more specifically, the rgeos, ggplot2, GISTools and sp packages: see http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/).
This course is for anyone who might be interested in using R for teaching or for research. No prior knowledge is assumed (though a slight familiarity with GIS, basic statistics and command-line computing would be useful). The course will also serve as a useful introduction to R for those interested in attending the Geographic Data Visualisation in R workshop taking place next year at GISRUK (see http://liverpool.gisruk.org/workshops.php).
Further information about how to register will follow.
With best wishes, Richard
