Subject: online peer support group for students labelled with
psychiatric/mental health disabilities - please distribute
To:
Hi there -
I am a member of Mad Students Society (MSS), a peer support and
advocacy group of and for students who have personal experiences with
psychiatric systems, madness, mental illness, mental health
disabilities, etc. MSS was created in 2005 and since then we have been
meeting monthly (primarily in and around Toronto, Canada - as well as
via real-time internet chat) and moderating an active, private, email
discussion listserv (like a message board) open to members living
anywhere in the world. Membership is free and confidential. People can
email [log in to unmask] to join.
We are particularly curious to learn what networks and alternatives
exist on campuses for students with psychiatric/mental health
disabilities and are interested in connecting with others involved in
this work. I have attached promotional materials and ideas about how
you can support us. Please consider forwarding this information to
colleagues, students, friends, club members, faculty/department
distribution lists, etc. Print off flyers to hang up and brochures to
leave out. Perhaps post our group info on your website or link to us
on Facebook? Tell people about us.
I welcome speaking to you further or responding to any questions you
may have about MSS.
Sincerely,
A. Triest
