Seamus Kirwan, a new author of rhyming verse, recently launched his book "Ravings of a Mad Irishman" in Tullamore, in the Clonmore House Hotel.
A Tullamore Rhymers Club member, he launched it at his 50th birthday, to mark the milestone, as the book reflects on life and his life in particular, charting his life long battle with, and acceptance of his depression, and finding a way of coping with same.
A section of his poems dwells on this, and a life finding journey in a canoe down the River Shannon.
A lot of funny poems bring a smile to the face, and also swing a well deserved swipe at Ireland ruling classes.
