Clinical and Population Perinatal Health Research, Kolling Institute of Medical Research, University of Sydney has a PhD opportunity for a suitably qualified candidate with a good academic record to investigate the use of blood product transfusions among newborn infants. The project will investigate risk factors for transfusion, trends in transfusion and infant outcomes using linked population health data.
The project would suit an individual from a number of different backgrounds (for example: medicine, epidemiology, public health or biostatistics). All candidates should possess a strong interest in developing diverse skills in the areas of population health, statistics, data manipulation and programming. Candidates should have successfully completed coursework in statistics or biostatistics, and have experience in writing program code in statistical software (eg SAS, ‘R’, STATA). The scholarship is valued at $35,000 per annum (tax exempt) and may be renewed for up to three years, subject to satisfactory progress. Applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand citizens.
