Yes, there are CDs around but they only contain
the Gloucester data, useful in Shropshires's case
as that includes the Severn River trade. It is
all the other data, from Milford and the South
Wales creeks, Bristol, Somerset, North Devon and
the north Cornish creeks which are lost to us.
David Hussey, who was involved in the original
Wolverhampton project as a post graduate
researcher, subsequently wrote a book on Coastal
and River Trade in Pre-industrial England:
Bristol and its region 1680-1730, (Exeter, 2000)
which provides some useful background information
on the trade in copper ore but spreads little
light on the Plymouth / Tamar Valley trade, being
categorised along with other areas as 'extra-regional'.
Other line you might take is to look at the
portbooks for those creeks which were likely
destinations for copper ore from the Tamar/Tavy.
Swansea is a clear choice as at least one mine,
William and Mary, was leased by John Lane who was
instrumental in setting up the Llangefelach smelter in 1724.
