Yesterday, I announced the Journal Research Data Policy Bank (JoRD) project to this list. I think it is worthwhile and will be of interest to draw attention to some of the preliminary work which the project has made available through their blog.
Journal Research Data Policy Bank (JoRD) is a JISC-funded initiative conducting a feasibility study into the scope and shape of a sustainable service that will collate and summarise journal research data sharing/availability policies, in order to provide researchers, managers of research data and other stakeholders with an easy source of reference to understand and comply with these policies.
At http://jordproject.wordpress.com/2012/09/13/journal-research-data-policies-survey/ the project has made some preliminary notes on typical features in journal research data policies.
At http://jordproject.wordpress.com/2012/09/18/initial-thoughts-on-what-a-model-data-sharing-policy-might-contain/ they share some initial thoughts on what a model data sharing policy might contain.
I am sure that the project would welcome any comments and observations on these early findings.
They follow these posts up with an interesting summary of 'Responsibilities of Authorship in the Life Sciences', drawn from an National Academy of Sciences report: http://jordproject.wordpress.com/2012/09/18/themes-from-the-literature-obligations-in-the-life-sciences/
Best wishes,
Simon.
