I don't think anyone has suggested it yet, but surely the Brooklyn museum mobile site is well worth a mention, if it works on my budget Symbian/Nokia smartphone it must be accessible to pretty much all smartphones. It doesn't do much fancy stuff but it has a database search function and tells you all you need to know about the museum, simple but effective.
