Other things to add are microphone technique; I have a bad habit of
holding the mike which is not good. Also, no more then 2 alcoholic
drinks before a live reading. Most of my readings were done with a mike
and mixing panel PA thing. (The cheap mike I got is just as good as my
heavy die cast pro thing and the cheap Sony headphones just as good as
my Sennheisers, hidden somewhere on my yacht.//)
Also, youtube presents some interesting and difficult problems. Oddly,
my thinking about HD Video and surround sound solutions seem to lead to
a solution wrt youtube problems.
Rosegarden, the computer app, I like since I can enter musical scores,
such as a bit of Tchaikovsky piano, which from looking at the score I
like the sound of but don't have the physical ability to play, although
I can step it out on a midi keyboard. But this is not musical
composition. It is what I understand as a sound image. Sound is just as
much an image as is the traditional mistaken idea of image as being
visual only. The sound of the poetry is then also an image. So it is
mixing these images to make them work, as HD video with surround sound,
or youtube, or a poetry reading.
And, many other ways.
But my netbook can't handle HD video and all this... am going to have
sell some prints and hit Apple up for a Mac Book Pro, 17 inch screen,
quad core and 8GB memory. (They may come to the party as soon as I get
around to it... I have an image they could use.)
