it could be, Chris, that 'old-fashioned' means 'no longer patented and
cheap' where medicines are concerned. Yes, I recall our pub run, I used to
be a little fond of such myself too. As well I was prescribed amitryp for
some years, and some other serotonin monkeys. I removed myself from such
medications, and although I'm just as capable of being depressed or
distressed as anyone, I don't define myself, or let myself be defined by,
'depression'. It was a matter of any kind of revelatory moment, rather that
just somewhere deep down I said 'sod it, enough'.
After all, every time I see one of Patrick's poems I want to hold my head
in my hands and cry, but one has to negotiate these things :)
