Subject: Re: [lis-e-resources] New ProQuest platform v old ProQuest platform
Hello Sarah,
We migrated fairly early last year. Currently we're investigating issues with the RSS feed which doesn't apply the correct URL, even though linking through our EZproxy setting appears to be correct. We're also investigating slow response times while exporting dozens of citations at once to "My Research" (there is an alert stating that it could take several minutes) and what the limit is of said export (CSA used to permit 5000). One way around this might be to export to a RIS file and import to RefWorks, EndNote, etc. but this also takes quite a while (NB: "My Research" dovetails into RefWorks).
My own observation is that users often don't see which database is providing the data (the database name is below the fold) so they may miss the fact that an abstract is all they're likely to get from A&I databases. As a result I switched on the PQ "Request this item" link and form (in Linking in/out) so that we could get more feedback and offer advice when OpenURL linking doesn't resolve to the full text (we don't have an automated ILL form on the link resolver yet).
I don't have much more feedback other than some instances when linking from Summon results failed. Sometimes this was because the OpenURL metadata was incorrect (eg: inaccurate date of publication or page no.) but I would imagine this type of error was carried over from the legacy databases and isn't due to the new platform. I think the switch to direct linking has improved things subsequently.
Regards,
Dom Benson

Subject: [lis-e-resources] New ProQuest platform v old ProQuest platform
Hello all,
Another strange question from the University of Bolton, apologies
Aside from issues to do with catalogues and link resolvers, I was wondering if anyone has decided not to migrate to the new ProQuest platform until the old one is well and truly dead, and if so why? Those who have already migrated, how have your users reacted to the change?
Thanks in advance!
Best wishes,
Sarah
