Head of Archive and Library
£37,000 - £60,000
London (National Maritime Museum)
We have exciting plans to develop the reach of our extensive archive and library resources – and now we need a forward-thinking professional with the vision to make them a reality. It’s your opportunity to shape the collections and create imaginative and innovative services that engage new audiences, both online and on-site.
Leading our Archive and Library team, your goal will be to maximize public access to our collections, which currently include around three million manuscripts, charts, prints and drawings, and 100,000 rare books and research library volumes. You will achieve this by creating a strategy for digital services, improving online catalogues and streamlining operational procedures. You’ll also work with colleagues to produce inventive courses and events that inspire people of all ages and from all backgrounds.
With a relevant professional qualification, you’re an experienced library/information or archive professional who can bring outstanding communication, leadership and presentational skills. The proven ability to implement standards (ISAD(G), PD 5454: 2012, MARC21, Benchmarks in Collection Care, PSQG Standard for Access to Archives) is also important, together with a good understanding of current digital information and web technologies.
