1.1 ALT-C reporters wanted!
Each year the ALT Newsletter publishes a report on ALT-C and we are
looking for volunteers to write this year's conference report.
Ideally, we'd like 4 or 5 people to collaborate on writing the
article, so this is an excellent opportunity to get your name in print
and work with others. The report is usually no more than 2500 words
and describes the conference in terms of a general overview,
interesting sessions, award winners, social events, web/remote
participation and anything else that is felt to be of interest to the
learning technology community. You would be tasked to write a specific
part of the article.
Colin Loughlin, Kingston University, will be co-ordinating the
article, so if you are interested in volunteering or would like
further information, then please contact him at

3.1 HEFCE report highlights role of further education colleges in widening
participation in England
A report published by HEFCE (‘Widening participation and
non-continuation indicators for further education colleges: Overview
of trends’, HEFCE 2012/20) shows for the first time patterns of
widening participation and non-continuation of full-time higher
education (HE) students in HEFCE-funded further education colleges
(FECs), and finds that FECs are performing particularly strongly in
widening access.
