Lecturer in Statistics (Ref: STM0314)

Applications are invited for a Temporary Lectureship in Statistics
within the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science to
start as soon as possible after 1st October.
The Statistics Group consists of 16 members of staff, including 2
post-doctoral members, and 16 PhD students. We teach both undergraduate
and postgraduate students, the latter through our recently revised MSc
in Statistics and a new MSc in Statistics with Finance. In the 2008
Research Assessment Exercise, two thirds of our research output was
judged to be internationally excellent or world leading, with virtually
all the remainder judged to be worthy of international recognition. Our
research emphasis is broad, including Bayesian methods, particularly
Bayesian nonparametrics and MCMC, statistical ecology, nonparametric
regression, applied probability and risk, time series and finance, and
shape analysis.
Applicants should hold a PhD in a relevant filed, and be able to teach
at both undergraduate and postgraduate level and will also be required
to undertake some administrative duties. We invite applications both
from research-active individuals and from those seeking a teaching and
scholarship role.
