Dear colleagues,
The 24th Colloquium of African Geologys will be held at the United Nations Economic Commission Conference Center (UNECA) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from 8 to 14 January 2013. There will be a series of pre- and post conference field excursions, e.g. a unique opportunity to visit the Afar rift.
And we would invite you to submit contributions to the following session:
Geophysical research and exploration
Conveners:
Dr. Jörg Ebbing, Geological Survey of Norway ([log in to unmask])
Dr. Mark Jessell, Université Paul Sabatier, Toulouse ([log in to unmask])
This session provides a forum for the latest developments in geophysical research with special emphasis for exploration in Africa. Both in hydrocarbon, mineral and groundwater exploration geophysical data aid to characterize the subsurface. We invite contributions addressing the acquisition and interpretation of aeromagnetic and gravity data, as well as heat-flow, electromagnetic and seismic studies.
In recent years, large-scale data sets have been acquired over the African continent, and we want to provide a forum to present these data sets. These data sets must be integrated in a subsurface model of the geology in 2D or 3D. We invite case examples of such 2D and 3D modeling, and expect contribution showing the advantage of integrated Earth science modeling to characterize the subsurface properties.
For further info see the conference website:(www.CAG24.org.et <http://www.cag24.org.et/> ). The abstract deadline is August 31st.
Best regards
Jörg
