Our WALTHAM Centre for Pet Nutrition is the global hub of nutritional expertise for Mars Petcare, with a remit to deliver ‘high-quality, innovative science conducted in a caring way’. This key role is critical to providing expertise, advice and training in experimental design, data handling and statistical analysis to support the delivery of high-quality scientific output which will maintain us as leaders in our field.
You’ll join a talented team of statisticians, working with around 50 associates across many areas of biological science, advising on all aspects of experimental design and carrying out analysis of the experimental data. In addition, you will also have the opportunity to help our scientists improve their statistical skills by running formal and informal training sessions in relevant areas. Working with the statistics community across the Mars business will increase your profile and empower you to play a role in setting best practice in experimental methodology and statistical analysis techniques. As you’ll be playing a leading role in the projects in which you are involved and will be seen as a vital source of support and advice for others, you’ll be expected to maintain awareness of new developments in statistics, and will be able to take advantage of numerous opportunities to attend courses and conferences in relevant fields.
You’ll have an MSc or equivalent experience in biological statistics and data analysis, or a related field, underpinned by a proven track record in the application of statistics in a biological setting. What will differentiate you is

- a proven capability to deliver training at varying levels with clarity and purpose
