New York-based, Australian artist Ian Burns aims to slow down the time spent looking at an artwork, using closed-circuit kinetic sculptures that create live video footage inside the gallery.
In an interview with ACMI curator Ulanda Blair, Burns cites two studies that suggest the average time spent in front of an artwork has shrunk to just five seconds, down from 27 seconds ten years ago.
