You clearly haven’t seen the book, which has been carefully researched,
well-written and illustrated and is a high quality product. You only have
to read Mike’s description to realise that this is not some tatty
typewritten script that you might throw into a photocopier!
Authors have to make a financial commitment in advance of publication and
need to recoup this considerable outlay from the sales of their works.

This book was launched at the recent NAMHO and was very sought after -
Jarrit Smith’s 1751 Newcomen Engine at Coalpit Heath, South
Gloucestershire. Previously unreported, a full set of Suppliers’ bills have
been researched to give the basis for this book which is over 60 pages,
including photographs and diagrams. This book is a fascinating insight into
a very early “atmospheric” pumping engine and, as such, it should appeal to
everyone interested in stationary engines. £9.99 + postage & packing
I do wish publishers would stop treating us as naive shoppers though why
not simply a straight £10.00
