Dear all
Apologies for cross-posting.
The government’s endorsement of the Finch report
<http://www.timeshighereducation.co.uk/story.asp?storycode=420573> paves
the way for a new publishing solution. A British company has been started
from scratch to provide that solution. Why not take advantage of this offer
to become an early adopter of change?
Social Sciences Directory (www.socialsciencesdirectory.com @SocSciDirectory)
is a new web-based open-access publishing platform, aimed at the global
academic research and higher education market. It is an online database of
academic research and other content, such as presentations, interviews and
news reports, as well as providing discussion forums through social media
including blogs, Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. It will operate on an
author pays model but with the option of institutional membership for all
their staff and researchers to submit articles freely.
Eduserv is seeking expressions of interest in institutional membership at a
discounted fee for an 18 month period to encourage submissions and support
this open access model which is widely supported in STM but little known in
the Social Sciences area.
How the Chest Agreement will work
To start the ball rolling and to encourage authors to submit quality content
quickly the Institutional Membership Fee has been substantially discounted.
The fee will be £1,800 covering the period from 1 July 2012 to 31 December
2013 – the current annual membership fee is £2000 for 12 months.
If 10 institutions take up this offer the agreement will go ahead. The
deadline for expressions of interest is on 31st July.
If you support this initiative and wish to join please contact Nikki Green (
