GIS Project Manager - Oil&Gas - UK and Iraq based - Contract until middle of 2013 - £Neg
I am currently seeking a GIS Project Manager for a very high profile client. The role will be based out of London and Iraq
The IT activity is associated with providing enabling applications and IT infrastructure for the development project organisation based in London, Iraq- Basra and Dubai.
At present there is a distributed set of GIS environments with lack of clear ownership, governance and standards around the environment which results in multiple sources of information sometimes replicated. The project is intended to put in place a single trusted source of spatial data and applications which will allow appropriate and controlled access to all stakeholders who need this information.
Experience and Knowledge required;
•Experience of designing and delivering industry standard intranet/ internet based ESRI solutions. Experience of managing set ups of Arc SDE databases in a replicated / synchronised mode would be ideal.
•Experience of working in IT for Upstream Oil and Gas major project environment preferred with multiple locations and geographies, rotating users etc. Utilities experience would also be considered.
•Strong GIS based application delivery background.
•Good understanding of hosted (ASP) solutions as well as being able to build these solutions in Basra if required.
•Good inter personal skills, experience of following standard project delivery methodology, setting up appropriate governance and ensuring that change is managed.
•Experience of rolling out IT solutions to Upstream project business users
•Experience managing procurement of solutions as ASP services by working with Procurement (PSCM) and ensuring the structure and service levels required for the IT service/ solution are provided for in the agreements with suppliers.
•Experience of working with Digital Security on the risks and mitigations associated with internet facing solutions.
•Experience of putting in place Early Life Support and on-going support model to ensure users are well supported during the early life of the project and have a clear model to receive support on an on-going basis.
•Experience of performance issues and security issues associated with internet facing solutions would be ideal.
•Relevant PM accreditation (e.g. PMP, PRINCE 2 Practioner)
•Core competence in Planning, Cost Estimating, Risk Management, Performance Management, Quality & Delivery Assurance.
•Assurance and track record of collective project delivery and business value improvement.
•Ability to assess integrity and appropriateness of potential IT solutions
•Excellent record of Stakeholder Management
•A record of project delivery
•Strong business awareness
