Dear Colleagues,
As the abstract deadline for Fall AGU is getting near (Wednesday, August 8), please consider submitting you abstract to the following session:
T033. <http://fallmeeting.agu.org/2012/session-search/single/melt-extraction-from-crust-and-mantle-interactions-among-deformation-melt-migration-and-melt-rock-reaction-cosponsored-by-msa/> Melt Extraction from Crust and Mantle: Interactions Among Deformation, Melt Migration and Melt-Rock Reaction: Cosponsored by MSA<http://fallmeeting.agu.org/2012/session-search/single/melt-extraction-from-crust-and-mantle-interactions-among-deformation-melt-migration-and-melt-rock-reaction-cosponsored-by-msa/>
Description: Plate boundaries are regions of intense magmatic activity where deformation, and melting are contemporaneous. Characterizing feedback relations among the processes involved is essential to understanding melt extraction and plate tectonics, but recent observational, experimental and theoretical work on these has generated controversy as well as new insight. This session will integrate field observations, experimental results and numerical modeling studies to address the importance of stress and melt-rock reaction on melt transport from grain to lithospheric scale, and to characterize the mechanical behavior and physical properties of rocks deformed in the presence of melt.
