Hi Peter,
It depends what you mean really. E-tran, by its very nature is two-person. There is a (great) version of this that records the conversation, called the MegaBee [1].
In terms of independent communication/control - yes, there are eye gaze systems (see Cogain [2], and or the CM suppliers [3]). These allow eye gaze control of communication software - and there are packages designed to work/look like the E-tran layout (i.e. colour-position coded), and/or you could make one (e.g. there is a G2 bundle for this, but I can't currently find it on the grids site [4] ??)
Hope this is some help, if I've missed the point, shout!
Simon

Subject: Fully Automatic Eye-Gaze E-tran/Etran Frame
Good Morning,
Does anyone on Assistech know if there is such a thing as a fully computerised E-tran/Etran 'fame' that can be operated by just a client using an eye-gaze system alone - and that does not require the presence of an assistant E-tran/Etran interpreter/translator?
Please advise,
