There's no specific funder requirement from ACE either to have advertising on culture sites [of any sort] or prohibiting or discouraging it.
Culture24 have carried advertising for some time now. Whilst at www.disabilityartsonline.org.uk [from 2009/10] I introduced advertising on the site and it remains in place. I'm not aware of the current income from it; obviously traffic from DAO is a small fraction of the audiences visiting C24, but there are always some campaigns aimed at particular sectors that allow smaller sites to generate revenue usefully.
All the best

Subject: Paid advertising
Hello all
Three linked questions. Answer all or any, or diverge from the topic as
you like.
Have any of you tried generating revenue from advertising on your sites?
Am I right in thinking that publicly funded museums (including
university collections/museums and archives etc) don't have paid ads on
their sites or are there some exceptions?
What do you think are the best avenues for a museum to pursue to
generate revenue from its web presence? (I'm not asking particularly
about revenue from collections but more from its traffic or brand.)
Many thanks
Bridget
