Dear Colleagues
I recently informed you about the online purchasing arrangements for our
recovery disc, Wrestling With Demons. I have since been approached by as
Scottish health authority wishing to purchase 12 discs. As with many public
authorities, they were unable to make payment by cheque or credit card. We
have therefore set up an invoicing system for such purchasers. Health
authorities, local governments and other organisations, can now e-mail me to
arrange to have an invoice raised by us. We will then dispatch your goods
and request that you make payment by BAC transfer as outlined on the
invoice.
Online purchasing arrangements continue to be available from the online site
at:

Subject: Recovery Album - Wrestling With Demons
Hi All
A brief note here about the launch of our mini-album Wrestling With Demons.
The disc contains four songs specifically chosen to reflect the struggles
and triumphs of people in recovery or working towards recovery. The disc
was launched at Phoenix House, Glasgow, a therapeutic community in Scotland,
using the residents as chorus. The disc was professionally recorded to
provide a set of songs to be sung in therapeutic communities at morning and
evening meetings and at recovery group meetings to open or close
proceedings.
Tracks from the album can be heard at:
http://uk.myspace.com/571624689
or
http://roryyates.bandcamp.com/
The Album – a mini-disc containing four tracks: In This House (Yates, 2010);
Always Pick Him Up (Reed, 1927); Song For John (Yates, 2005); and Stand By
Me (King, Leiber & Stoller, 1960). These songs were specifically chosen to
reflect both the reality of recovery and the struggle to achieve it.
The Artists – Rory Yates (better known as “Rowdy Yates” in the recovery
movement) started playing in rock bands in the mid-1960s: a career cut short
by heroin addiction. He started playing again some years ago and has built
a reputation for writing and performing songs about addiction and recovery.
He has worked in the addiction field as a counsellor, trainer and researcher
for over 40 years. Other artists on the album include: Eoin Coughlan (of
Nomos); Elaine Cormican (of Liadan); Art O’Laoire (of Cartoon); and Cathal
Clohessy (of Bosca Ceoil).
The Sponsors – Scottish Addiction Studies; Phoenix Futures; Lifeline
Project; Amity Foundation; Ley Community; Action on Addiction; and
Wired-In - all proceeds will go to the European Federation of Therapeutic
Communities.
The Costs - the album will be available at various recovery events across
the UK, including: the Recovery Academy Conference 2012; We Free (San
Patrignano); EWODOR Symposium 2013; the EFTC Conference, Prague, 2013; and
various UK recovery meetings. The album will be available at these events
for £8.00 ($12.40 or €10). The album is also available online NOW at:
http://roryyates.bandcamp.com/
Online ordering prices of £10.00 ($15.50 or €12.30) includes Bandcamp/Paypal
commission plus FREE download. Package and postage is £2.00 ($3.00 or
€2.50. Prices are reduced for multiple orders - details on-site). Single
tracks at £2.50 () can be purchased at the same site.
