Nominations are now invited for our book prizes for works published in 2011.
Each year, BASEES invites nominations for two prizes: The Alexander Nove Prize, for scholarly works in Russian, Soviet and Post-Soviet Studies, and The George Blazyca Prize, for scholarly works in East European Studies. The prizes are considered significant accolades in these subject areas. Further details and regulations, including the citations for last year’s prize winners, can be found on our website:
Works may be nominated for consideration by the authors, or by publishers, librarians or other scholars.
If you would like to nominate a book of outstanding quality published in 2011 for either prize, please complete the attached nomination forms and send them to me at the address below with TWO copies of the book, by the deadline of 15 SEPTEMBER 2012.
Please note that:
1) authors of nominated books must be members of BASEES at the time of nomination, and IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF NOMINATORS TO CONFIRM MEMBERSHIP (confirmation of submission of an application for membership is sufficient; we would urge any author who is not already a member to join the association in order to qualify for the prizes (http://www.basees.org.uk/members.shtml);
2) the prizes are for books published in 2011 ONLY, and books published in any other year (including books that appeared in 2011 but have a different year of imprint) will not be eligible for consideration.
