Now looking like a glitch for us. April 2011 was exceptionally high so there was a bit of a drop looking at the year. May 2011 was 5.5% up on 2010 and May 2012 was 3.2% up on 2011.
Also, proportion of attendances resulting in admission is rising. Be interested to know if this was a general thing and feelings on reasons. My own gut feeling (which is not backed up by any evidence) is that at least part of it is a reduction in social services input and less community care. This would be borne out by the fact that in the age 65-75; 75-85; 85-95 and over 95 age bands we've seen more than a doubling in absolute numbers of admissions, but it's not all of it: in every age band we've seen both an increase in attendances and an increase in proportion admitted.
Matt
