UWE Bristol are currently advertising a number of fully funded scholarships relevant to medical sociology.
One of these is an opportunity to study the effects of music making on the wellbeing of disadvantaged young people. Led by Professor Norma Daykin and advised by the national charity Youth Music, the project will explore the impact of a broad programme of music work with young people who are not in employment, education or training (NEETs). A mixed methods approach is likely to be adopted comprising quantitative pre and post assessment in a national sample and in-depth qualitative research exploring the meaning of music making and its links with wellbeing with a sub-sample of projects and participants.
The deadline for applications is the 13th May.
