MEDICINES AND HEALTHCARE PRODUCTS REGULATORY AGENCY

POSITION: CPRD Senior Research Officer
DIVISION: CPRD

GRADE AND SALARY RANGE: SEO, 37,175 to 39,196

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) is the government agency which is responsible for ensuring that medicines and medical devices work, and are acceptably safe. 

The Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) is the new English NHS observational data and research service. It was launched on 29 March 2012, and builds on the huge success and international reputation of the GPRD. It is an innovative and unique research service, and provides a dynamic and stimulating working environment. We are developing a whole new service to enable wide ranging research for the improvement and safeguarding of public health.

Purpose of Role:

To provide two key CPRD services:
.	To provide first line scientific advice arising from contacts made to the CPRD Helpdesk. This is the first port of call for CPRD enquires.
.	Manage the activities of the MHRA Independent Scientific Advisory Committee (ISAC) that oversees all research conducted with data provided by CPRD.

Key Responsibilities:
.	Ensure that all ISAC business is transacted according to set standards.
.	Ensure that all Helpdesk enquires are answered appropriately to the highest level and in the shortest possible time.
.	To plan and input new systems that improve the workflow of the Helpdesk and ISAC.
.	To prepare Key Performance data as required by the CPRD SMT.
.	To contribute ideas to improve the overall operation of CPRD.
.	To prepare the annual ISAC report.
.	To work with the ISAC Chair on all matters related to study approvals.
