Hi List
Keeping on the same subject of fire fighters: We have on site our own Occupational Fire Crew; they receive basic fire training from Suffolk County Fire. We are in the process of interviewing some new recruits; apart from the obvious medical questionnaire including confined spaces, is there a criterion to measure fitness level of exercise & recovery time? At present they do a non-scientific bleep test, is this enough?
Their manager has just left my office to confer with Suffolk County Fire.
Do full time / retained fire fighters attend an annual fitness test and BA user assessment?

Many Thanks
Dawn

Hi CFOA guidance suggests Limited risk to firefighters for hepatitis A/B. All primary vaccine programmes should be completed with 10 year boost to DTP as Diptheria on the increase and only available as the triple vaccine out wieghing tetnus toxicity.
Green book suggests RA for vaccines never forgetting no vaccines are 100% side affect free, effective and do not cover all virus,s etc.hygiene most important.
ISAR/USAR teams fully vaccinated as per national/ overseas deployment.
However as ff are becoming more medics these days maybe CFOA will reassess soon Regards Ruth Sent from my blackberry regards Ruth
