medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Herewith a link to an earlier 'Saints of the day' for 17. May (including St. Adrio; St. Victor of Rome; Sts. Heraclius and Paulus; St. Restituta of Teniza / of Carthage [with a note on Restituta of Cagliari]; St. Aemilianus I of Vercelli; Bl. Walter of Mondsee):

Further to Heraclius and Paulus:
In Eastern-rite churches Paulus is better known as Paulinus.
Further to Restituta of Teniza or of Carthage:
In that earlier post's notice of this saint, the last of the four links to the mosaic by Lello di Orvieto in the cappella di Santa Restituta in Naples' cathedral no longer functions.
In the same notice, the first link to a view of Restituta's cult statue at Lacco Ameno all bedecked with ex-votos no longer functions. Use this instead:

Further to Aemilianus I of Vercelli:
In that earlier post's notice of this saint, add this link to another set of views of his church at Scandeluzza in Montiglio Monferrato (AT):

In the same notice, the link to the (Italian-language) fact sheet on that mostly thirteenth-century church no longer functions. Its matter is here (scroll down to CHIESA DI SANT'EMILIANO):

Today (17. May) is also the feast day of:
Andronicus and Junia (d. 1st cent.). At Rom 16:7, St. Paul sends greetings to his kinsmen and fellow prisoners Andronicus and Junia, who were Christians before he was and who are known to (alternatively, well known among) the Apostles. Orthodox and other Eastern-rite churches consider them to have been among the Seventy Apostles (in the terminology of the Roman church, Disciples) and celebrate them today. Traditionally, they are considered evangelists of Pannonia. Andronicus and Junia have yet to grace the pages of the RM.
Best,
John Dillon
