Nick,
I would have thought that Europeana's push to register vocabularies,
ideally Linked Data ones (which was brought to my attention yesterday)
would be sufficient impetus from CT's point of view. Publishing SHIC in
a Linked Data format would allow Europeana contributors who have SHIC
classifications in their data to submit them as URLs rather than as
string values.
Goodness knows there are currently few enough URLs in the actual
metadata within Europeana - enabling them for SHIC classes would
represent significant progress, in my view.
