What I would suggest is to create a contrast for each subject that
expresses the difference between the main and control condition (e.g.,
[1 -1]). This will give you a single con* image per subject, which you
can then enter into a group analysis using a one-sample t-test. This is
statistically equivalent and will save you a bit of hassle in setting up
the model.
