You lot are rotten!
No, really!
Ok, I made a basic web-mastering error when I deployed Cookie Control on http://dartmouthmuseum.org and checked it in Firefox, Safari, Opera and failed to look at IE (I run a Mac, and I was having trouble with Virtualbox where I keep an XP partition), so I never saw that it displayed in a haywire manner in IE until yesterday. My fault. Bad me. ~stands in corner wearing Dunce's Cap~
But I showed it to you all as an example of a good thing!
And thats why I say "You lot are rotten!" Or, I suppose, no-one here uses IE, so, in that case, "you lot are wise!" But if you looked at it in IE and saw it had all gone to hell in a hand basket, feedback would have been a sweet gesture! You can laugh at me all you like. I can take it, but tell me when I'm being a fool! That I need to know. And that, surely, is part of what we are for, feedback?
For anyone who wants to know, it was the DOCTYPE at the tope of the HTML page. The template I chose is an antique. And the one thing IE seems to follow as a standard is doctype. Go figure.
Changing doctype was the work of moments. Fighting the antique template afterwards was the work of hours! I'm going to take a weekend and make it XHTML compliant I think. The investment in frustration will be worth it
