COMPANY: Onside Analysis (http://www.onsideanalysis.com)
JOB TITLE: Computational Statistician
BASIS: Flexible (full-time or contractor)
LOCATION: UK based, initially from home.

Onside Analysis is looking for experienced computational statisticians
to enhance our team and help us to achieve our goal to always improve.
Your profile is one rarely sought in a professional environment: a
combined passion for computational statistical modelling and football.
You love the game, but most importantly you realise the potential that
your skills can provide to deliver the revolutionary scouting and
analysis services that we offer to various players in the football
industry.

THE COMPANY
At Onside Analysis, we specialise in independent and impartial
analysis of the beautiful game. We possess the skills and expertise to
give our clients the edge in their field. We specialise in analysing
performance and modelling data in football…..combine the two and you
have the key to sporting success. We use an extensive range of data,
the very latest player modelling trends, and our proven analytical
techniques to produce high quality results. In addition, our team
possesses an unrivalled knowledge of football and an outstanding
global network of contacts in the game. Not only do our contacts
possess a global reach, but our coverage in data and analysis reaches
every continent.

At Onside Analysis, we recognise that as in football, the key to our
performance is our team. And just like in football, we understand that
our continued success depends on not standing still. As such, we are
always in the market for new signings, to bring new skills and talents
to complement our current team.

THE ROLE
We are looking for talented individuals who are willing to shape our
statistical modelling team to be a market-leading provider of services
based upon statistical modelling, analysis and performance analytics.
While applicants are likely to have specialist skills in specific
areas, we want team players willing to go the extra mile and extend
themselves beyond their comfort zone. Our team will be responsible for
researching, developing, implementing and testing a suite of
statistical models and techniques to provide revolutionary content for
our software applications, delivered across a number of platforms
including web, desktop and mobile devices, utilising the latest
technologies. Where possible we specialise in open source
technologies.

YOUR PROFILE
Being asked to explain the offside rule will present no problems, but
most importantly you will have strong skills in statistical modelling
along with computational experience implementing these models in C++,
Python or R. Applicants with past experience using relational
databases (preferably PostgreSQL or MySQL) will score bonus points.
You will be able to demonstrate your abilities through tangible work
or projects. Ideally you will have a good education including a
postgraduate degree in statistics or mathematics, with a large element
of computational programming. However, not everyone chooses the same
career path and individuals with strong modelling and programming
experience but no postgraduate degree will also be considered.

APPLY NOW
If you are interested in applying for one of the roles, please visit
our site and email your CV and a covering letter (with the job title
in the Subject of the email) to [log in to unmask] Tell us
why you would make a good teammate at Onside Analysis, and what makes
you a better candidate than the “statistical whizz” pushed our way by
A.N.Other Recruiter!

We respectfully note that we will simply not reply to unsolicited
applications or enquiries from recruitment agencies.
