Science Communication recently published a review of the literature on knowledge brokerage by a researcher at the Ecole des Mines. It's pretty good. Details are:
Meyer, Morgan (2010) 'The rise of the knowledge broker', _Science Communication_ 32(1): 119-127
The abstract is here http://bit.ly/JB19Y.

Sharon,
While I'm not a candidate for your article, I'm interested, and it's not a term I've heard before.
